“If the shoe fits”, should I still wear it?

i have nothing to wear

source

No matter what stage of life I have been in, I find it difficult to know what I should be wearing. Are any of you going through the same thing?

I remember being about 16 and shopping at Hollister. I went to pick up a cute top, and a girl who looked 13 came over with her mom and picked up the exact same top. Hmmm, was I too old, or was she too young?

Then a few years later, similar things started happening to me at Forever21, Charlotte Russe, and American Eagle. I mean, the clothes definitely fit me, but did that mean I should be wearing them?

After several unsettling instances, I started going to places like Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor LOFT, Banana Republic, and Express. These places were better, but then I was surrounded by cool moms and business-y ladies. Is it OK that I can wear a mother AND daughter’s wardrobes?

I recently started a new obsession with J. Crew. Of course they have been around for ages, but I feel like they are a good age appropriate store for a 20-something who is closer to 30 than 20.

My conclusion is that by MIXING pieces from Charlotte Russe and J Crew, I can create a unique look that looks expensive and pulled together without breaking the bank.

Check out this post for where I shop.

Tagalong Girl Scout Cookie Copy Cat Recipe

tagalongs

source

I gave up cookies and all fake sweets for Lent. Not because I’m super religious, but because it was a good excuse to stop eating crap in general #guiltyface

I especially love Girl Scout Tagalong Cookies (let’s be honest, I never met a GS Cookie I didn’t like…) but since I am trying to be healthier, this got my fix without all of the guilt…

I just ate all ran out of graham crackers, so I don’t have a photo of my own, but here’s a close representation via Recipe Girl (just minus the pastry crust).

almost tagalaongs

1 low fat honey graham cracker

1 thin layer of JIF reduced fat peanut butter

1 small square dark chocolate

Obviously, I am all about the ease of making this as soon as the craving hits, and gobbling it down before you can stop yourself. If you still want to be healthy and have some extra time, try this recipe. If you’re going through a phase where you don’t care and just want to enjoy yourself, then try this recipe or this one 🙂

Happy Feasting!

The Huntress-What I Wore

This is such a cold month. And doesn’t it just seem to go on forever?? I find that I can’t help myself, but pair T-Shirts with snuggly sweater and cardigans. Being cold is one of my least favorite things ever, but being unfashionable is higher on the list…

What I Wore: Vegas Edition!

The Huntress-What I Wore

What’s a girl to do when she is offered a chance to go to Las Vegas for a fun-filled Valentine’s Day weekend? Well, you say, “My bags are packed!”

Before I left, I took some snaps of the outfits I planned. And then, of course, I’ll show you how it all panned out!

You know, things rarely go as planned, so luckily, I packed some extra outfits *just in case*, which came in handy (this isn’t my first rodeo…)

Unfortunately, this hot leather dress’ zipper was not cooperating. I’m sure the cookies I’ve been eating lately didn’t help the situation…or maybe it was the fact that it was only $10…

Luckily, I brought this graphic little number…

As for the details of the trip, here is a rundown:

Altogether, it was a wonderful, wonderful weekend trip with CK, his brother and his gf 🙂

A Valentine’s Day Miracle!

Last night, I received a beautiful Valentine’s Day package from my Dad and step-mom (or “Other Mother” as she likes to be called!). They are SO generous, that I thought they would like to “watch” me open everything in a play-by-play photo progression (which was texted to them last night). Now for all of you…Watch the Miracle unfold!

image_6Yep, that pretty much captures the joy of the evening!

And then I wore it to work today, of course 🙂

image_7CK likes to tell me I am dramatic, but no dramatics here! All real, true, and total joy!! It felt just as wonderful as I imagined it would be *dream*…I received lots of compliments on it today, many from my co-workers that didn’t even know about my obsession. And I’m not even lying, I love the shirt so much, I didn’t want to change out of it when I came home. I just took this photo so you could see me in “real time”.

Thank you Dad and Barb for these amazing treats! I absolutely LOVE everything! 🙂image_5

On The Hunt: Snuggly Sweaters

The Huntress-On The Hunt

My lovely friend, “A” is going on a romantic Valentine’s Day getaway to a cozy Vermont cottage chalet. She is looking for the perfect cardigan to snuggle in with her hubby. These Pinterest photos should be all you need to set the scene:
