Meet Blanca!
I bought a new car! ๐ ๐ ๐ I don’t think I can do enough smiley faces to show how happy I am ย ๐ Meet Blanca!
I had a silver Volkswagen Beetle since I was 17 years old. (Thanks to my loving parents <3) It was sooo cute and bubbly, and every time someone asked me what kind of car I had, they always had the same response when I answered, “That is so you!”. I loved that car. I was able to zip around and easily find and park in spots that were way too small for any other cars. And although Bugley was basically a round car, she never objected to overly successful trips to HomeGoods and generously let me pack her all the way to the top with square objects.
But the past few years, she was in need of repairs, and I was in need of something that would fit my working girl lifestyle. So I started lusting after a white Honda CR-V.
HJ and I looked for weeks for a slightly used one (2010), since I liked the look better than the new ones, and also so it would fit in my price range. After I took one out for a spin, I was really “cr-v”ing the car! HJ really negotiated (maybe I should change his initials to MN for Master Negotiator…) got me a great deal, and after 5 hours of inspecting, bartering, and paperwork,ย we drove her of of the lot that same night!
It was emotional, because I had become so attached to Bugs, but it was soooooooo worth it. AND after celebrating Christmas with my Dad and Barb last night, she received a gift herself! Her very own name plate! (Picture coming soon!)
Gifting
I promise I will post some more outfit pics soon! Things have been a little busy around here, what with ย watching Christmas movies, decorating, and shopping for the perfect gifts ๐
A really great site that might get your wheels spinning is gifts.com
They have lots and lots and lots of gift suggestions. And the best part is that you can search by personality, by age, by gender, etc. It’s really helpful when you are looking for someone who already has everything.
Go check them out!
**NOTE:I have not been compensated by gifts.com. It is just my opinion that they have been very helpful for gift ideas!
Since 2006
This weekend, I would like to do a post about the greatest love of my life, Hunky J. We celebrated 5 years together on the 11th, and so, in honor of 11-11-11, I would like to list 11 reasons why I could not do it without him ๐
John,
1. You are silly.ย You always know how to make me laugh, so many times a day. Your “otter-like joy” is contagious and I look forward to what you have to say everyday. “Is it all rubbed in?”
2. You are ambitious. You dream big. No challenge is too great for you to tackle.
3. You are loving and kind. You know how to balance being strong and masculine with being gentle and considerate.
4. You have a wonderful family. You have wonderful role models for how to sustain a long-lasting relationship. The values they instilled in you are evident in how you live your life.
5. No matter how far away we are, you always make me feel like I am home. You make me feel safe and secure wherever we are.
6. You are observant. You see nature with wide eyes and never miss an opportunity to show me things that I would never have seen without you there.
7. You are helpful. You always give into me and agree to make my dreams come true.
8. You are supportive. You understand my visions and passions and encourage me to make them happen.
9. You are persistent. You don’t let others discourage you and you never stop going after what you want…including me!
10. Your deep voice is captivating. You emanate strength and reliability, even if you’re just a “kid in his underwear”.
11. You are cute tome. Yes, tome. Your sweet, soft eyes and chipped tooth get me every time ๐
Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday To Me! I am about 2 weeks behind, but now I am a quarter of a century old! I had a wonderful dinner with my friends:
It was great to have a Girl’s Night! And as a present to myself, I bought these babies:
So, as always, there is a backstory to these perfect lamps ๐ I first saw them a couple of months ago at HomeGoods, but they were 60 bucks each, and I wasn’t ready to spend that much. I decided to wait until the price dropped. Then a couple of days later, I saw this:
(The Lettered Cottage-Master Bedroom)
Oh Layla! As soon as I saw her post I freaked out! OMG! Those were almost the same lamps I was drooling over! It was then that I knew I HAD to have them. But, of course, I went back to HomeGoods, prepared to spend the $60 a pop, and no sign of them anywhere. I pined and pined (I seem to do that alot, about lamps and houses, and clothes, and furniture, and…and…everything!) so I almost gave up hope, but still vowed that if I found them again, I would snatch them up! So last weekend, before celebrating my birthday with my fam, I decided to stop into a HomeGoods near my hometown, and “just see” what they had. I started looking at mantle decorations (which will appear in a later post!), mirrors, and whatever else, until I finally milled around the lamp section. Then I spotted her-
Yeah, it was kinda like that…

Its http://www.tlclighting.com if you can’t read it. I just checked now, and it says the lamps are on sale for $49.99 (womp womp) BUT then when you click on it, it says $69.99, and then SOLD OUT…but if you are persistant, you can get anything you want! I am proof! ๐ Stay tuned for my next post about my summer mantle! Its really spectacular, if I do say so myself…Happy Mother’s Day!
Happy Belated Mother’s Day! Tonight I wanted to do a post about some colorful gifts for mother’s day that are easy and fun to make. I am posting some pictures of what I got my wonderful step-mom for Mother’s Day. (She was great, and took the photos for me, since I didn’t take them before…) First, I started with the candle. Barbie loves candles, especially when they are buttercream, so I knew this was a must!
The bright colors were a perfect palette to play with, so it was very easy to find a vase! ย Lucky for me, I found one that not only was a great color, but also fit Barbie-she has an infectious laugh, in fact, you could say she is infamous for it, so the word “laugh” was fitting. Tulips are meaningful to Barbie, so it only seemed right to fill up that little blue vase with some purple pretties.
The last part is the card! It was so fun to make, and you can customize it however you want. I usually make my own cards anyway, because it is more meaningful to me than anything I can buy in the store. You can make cards too! Here’s how: I bought some scrapbooking cardstock, about $10 for 80-ish sheets, at a craftstore. I chose a 5″ x 8″ tablet with citrus-y colors, and with Father’s Day coming up soon, I made sure it had some manly colors in there too ๐ I also bought some colorful double-sided ribbon. Now the assembling! I like to use hot glue and spraymount, because regular white glue makes the paper curl (please, take my word for it, and dont learn the hard way-mom will not be happy) I cut a 1/4 of the orange paper off into a strip so I would have enough to make the petals on top the pink flower, which i just cut out of another patterned paper from the tablet. I taped the ribbon down first and then taped/hot glued the flower. Then, just write your message and enjoy giving ๐
Master of Disguise…
I find that on beautiful days like this one, I like to pretend that I have nothing to do. Mainly I am doing work all day, holed up indoors. But that is that rare occasion that I have to go to the grocery store, or to the pharmacy, and I love strolling in as if I am just casually enjoying a day off. No one knows that I am a mad designer of all things creative and wonderful…hmm, my own little secret ๐
Beginning
So, I am OBSESSED with design blogs…and yet, I have no idea how to create my own. Maybe I’ll stick with buildings for now. This is a new beginning for a lot of things…I am just starting this blog, spring has just blossomed out of the once gigantic piles of snow and I am now searching for a job…with my school career almost over (6 years in the making), I am more than ready to move on and up to bigger and better things. so here is a virtual cheers to things falling into place! *clink*
