A Year in Fashion

Wow. I can’t believe that my last clothes post included an outfit from OCTOBER 2016…so much has changed! And a few new additions have made their way into my closet. But the old classics remain 🙂

Feast yo eyes.Dress: Target

Coral Espadrilles: Steve Madden

I just LOVE this 2 pattern dress that my friend, Megan, bought me for my birthday!

Shoes: Nine West, “Apple Eye” Booties

This Forever21 stretchy dress has been in my closet for YEARS, but it’s just a classic. It can be dressed up or down and never seems like I’m trying too hard (even if it does take me hours to get ready…)

Top: Banana Republic Skirt: Banana Republic Factory Bathing Suit: Ted Baker via Nordstom

Ummm, can we talk about this suit?! Ted Baker was kind of a splurge, but I REALLY wanted something fab, for this future vacay that the Universe is bringing to me, and it was the last one in my size. After a long day of shopping, I had to take it as a sign 🙂 My facial expression in this photo is clearly not an accurate representation of how happy I was to find this gem!

Dress: Milly, Penelope Gown via Neiman Marcus

Oh.My.Godessss. Back in June, I had an urge to try on super fancy dresses, just for the fun of it. Once I found this one, I almost bought it. But, then I saw the price tag…$725. Yikes.

I can’t help it, I just love Blue Spice and Indigo Rein jeans. They fit in the waist, thighs, and calves AND they’re a perfect ankle length for us petite girls! Loved this printed blouse! It’s hard to tell, but it’s off-the-shoulder with a little spaghetti strap!
Kimono Jacket: Target…KIDS section.

I know, I know, if it isn’t bad enough that I’m 31 and buy all of my clothes from TJ Maxx, I have now succumbed to the children’s section of a chain store…good news is that my very fashionable boss complimented me on it. Score!

Hanging Out At…Whisk, Theodora Park, Candlefish, and Sugar Bakeshop

It’s been rainy for days here and I’ve been cooped up in the apartment going insane. So when I woke up yesterday morning and saw that it was sunny, I knew I had to take advantage. This meant that I actually dried my hair, straightened it, and put on a full face. img_0202Top: Gaze USA via TJ Maxx. I got 4 compliments on this top! Woo Hoo!!

Denim Shorts: Target (This are SO cute, but unfortunately, they ride up showing everyone your sweet cheeks…They’re only good if you’re standing still) Maybe “appropriate length denim shorts” should be in an On The Hunt post…

First up: Early lunch at Whiskwhisk-2source

The interiors of this place are just so cute! It was too weird for me to take a photos, so Please enjoy the blurry photo I found online 🙂 It was the only one that looked the most accurate to what it looks like now!whisk-1I tried the Power Bowl Salad (spinach, romaine, chicken, bacon, cheddar, tomato, avocado, flax seed, Whisk vinaigrette) and the Tropical Verde Juice (pineapple, kale, oranges, ginger). The guy at the counter was super nice and really helpful. He gave me some samples of juice to help me figure out what I wanted. The verdict is that it was just alright. Their Whisk Vinaigrette is similar to a Green Goddess-type dressing, but it wasn’t as flavorful as I had hoped. I don’t know what I was really expecting from a salad and juice. It was definitely edible (and I definitely ate) but maybe I’d try a smoothie the next time…At least I went and tried it!img_0208Note the Dreams of Joy book in the background…lol

Second Stop: Reading in Theodora Parkimg_0077This whole city is so quiet, but in the residential Ansonborough neighborhood, there is a quiet little park with a reflection pool and small tables. It’s so peaceful here. Not too many tourists, so it makes a perfect spot for afternoon reading. I have to admit, these photos were taken a few days ago when I walked by there at sunset, but the #currentmood was still the same…img_0076 img_0079

Third Stop: Perusing Candlefishcandlefishsource

This boutique candle shop is a sensory dream come true. It smelled like heaven, the visual displays were phenomenal, and the music was chill.

img_0211 img_0214This is their scent bar, where you choose which scents you want mix together, if you make your own candle! They have several workshop dates, and I definitely plan on attending one!img_0217Love those branch candles! And the candles on this display…I can’t even…Illlume’s Pumpkin Peppercorn candle for $22 was like an autumnal paradise! Apothecary’s Tobacco and Patchouli was also reminiscent of a sweet pipe smoking lounge 🙂img_0218

And these flowers were absolute perfection to me:img_0212img_0210These lovely block prints are also available through Perla Anne Press on Etsy or at the Charleston Farmers Market!

And I couldn’t help but chuckle at these cheeky dishes:img_0216 img_0215

Speaking of portion control, onto the sweetest stop on the tour!

Fourth Stop: Indulging in mini cupcakes at Sugar Bakeshopimg_0219Like, really, this is the cutest shop ever. It looks like a bakery out of a dream! I walked by here the other day, but it was already closed, so I decided to take advantage of my day and take the 20 minute trek to the other side of town to snag me some sweets. I quickly picked out my 3 mini guys: Vanilla, Almond, and Coconut. Truth be told, I think I should have arrived earlier when the cupcakes were freshly baked. I’m afraid Dia Doce’s are still the winner, even after sitting for a week…fullsizerenderAs soon as I walked out, the clouds started rolling in and it was dark. I booked it out of there, just in time to be caught in the most extreme downpour I’ve ever experienced without an umbrella. I was slipping out of my shoes, the cardboard carrying box was disintegrating in my hands, a raindrop fell into my mascara’d eye, completely removing any and all traces of makeup, my straightened hair was completely drenched, and my top was so sopping wet that I could actually wring it out. This is me as soon as I got home…img_0221

And as soon as I dried off, the rain stopped completely. That’s what I get for eating cupcakes…

What I Wore: New School Year!

The Huntress-What I WoreHappy Saturday!

Now that the school year has started, it was time to step things up a little bit. I have to admit, I was getting excited about Back-to-School Shopping. Especially when you can get deals like the ones I got from Once Worn. This is the perfect time of year for clothes. The summer is dwindling, but it’s still warm, so skirts and short-sleeves are comfortable, but you can still get away with the occasional jeans and t-shirt, or my absolute fav, shorts and a long-sleeve top 🙂 IMG_4087

Some for You, Some for Me…

I had a HUGE shopping trip for work this week:

photo-5

Yep, 7 carts. And that was only 1/2 of the stuff! 🙂 #homegoodshappy

That meant that I came in contact with lots and lots and lots of beautiful things. So, the obvious outcome was that I got a few little gems for myself 🙂

IMG_3967

I spied this acid-wash wonder as I was looking in the mirror trying on something else. She peeked out from behind me, I spun around and quickly promised myself if it was $20 or less, she would be mine. Well, feast your eyes:

IMG_3968

Yes, that’s how my mind works on an unintentional shopping trip…this is why I am dangerous 🙂

IMG_3966

I’ve always loved pigs since I was little, so this sweet gold rimmed jewelry dish (for $4.99) was the perfect grown-up homage to my childhood love.

IMG_3969

I’m so glad I can benefit from Jessica Simpson making the switch from music to shoes. These have satisfied my craving for *mildly* comfortable open-toed booties in a neutral color.

IMG_3970

And finally, this hopeful message in gold text ($16.99) just made me smile. I really feel like it’s true for me, lately 🙂 I’m really glad I took this photo when I was looking super glamorous in the reflection…

Side Note: It took me over an hour for all of my carts to be rung up, so when they got down to the last few items, I was so ready to get out of there. Anyway, there was a mirror without a visible price. While the clerk and I both searched for a tag, I half-joked that I would pay $75 for it (I estimate they would have charged $124.99). And you know what, the guy made me a tag for $75.99! Ha! Seriously, ask and you shall receive!

Happy Hunting!

#Maxxinista

I just love TJ Maxx. Like, really really love it. When I was doing some Christmas shopping for myself family, I stopped in to look around, and of course, it did not disappoint! Here are some of the treasures I found.

*Disclaimer-None if these things came home with me, but they sure were fun to look at!

Let’s start with the accessories first:image_25These cute Kate Spade look-a-like earrings were only $14.99!

image_23It’s difficult to see, but this bag had a herringbone felt look and I couldn’t help but admire the cute embellished details. Only $39.99.

image_22This navy and pink leather bag looked so polished, a la Elle Woods, Esq. It was less than $50 bucks.

image_21Ummm, can’t stand it, right?! SOOO cute! For $29.99?! Love it.

image_20Travelling soon? This gray ostrich Nicole Miller bag (on wheels!) is the perfect accessory…especially for less than $200. But I have my own fabulous black classy duffel that I received for Christmas! 🙂

image_17Remember my Manzanita post? Well, here it is again…for $20…in GOLD! I know, you didn’t think it could get any better.

image_16This lush fur blanket by Nicole Miller is perfect for winter snuggling. And at $40, you could afford to buy some logs for the fire too.  Again, Santa brought me my own snuggle pelt for Christmas. A little more of a splurge, but TOTALLY worth it!

image_15I love this gilded pineapple for $16.99. It makes me think of Charleston 🙂

image_18My beautiful friend bought me a Kate Spade journal brandishing this same carefree phrase reminiscent of the ever-so-fashionable, not-so-humble Marie Antoinette.

image_19On those days when you need to be reminded that you are beautiful 🙂

image_14This box set is more like a matryoshka doll. The boxes inside are equally as cute. It does have a juvenile look to it, but I’m so glad that even babies can have fabulous storage.

image_13 image_12These kitchen stools were a great industrial touch. I imagine them in an all-white kitchen. Then again, I imagine myself in an all-white kitchen. *dream*

image_11This AMAZING nailhead stunner was only…get ready…$69.99!! If I didn’t already have 2 sad chairs waiting to be loved up at home, I definitely would have bought this. Except that he didn’t have a friend…

image_10Speaking of friends, I want this shiny bar cart to be my friend. It was $199.99 and it loved me. It could have also been reincarnated as a nightstand or hot chocolate station, or side table, or basically anything. This couldn’t look bad anywhere.

image_24And last, but not least, this fun, bold, striped wrapping paper. It can be used to wrap any of the things you’ve just seen. My birthday is coming up…in June 😉

Have you found any great TJ Maxx finds?
