I should have even more to post next week, once the floors have been refinished 🙂

In the meantime, I have come up with a staging plan for this cottage. Now, if I were doing this myself, I would be purchasing pieces that were unique with a traditional-meets-modern vibe. But since we would use a rental company, I am locked into their offerings. Not too bad!

Hoffer Photography Rocks!

Hoffer Photography.fur bedI am SO SO SO excited that I can post about this now! Last Thursday, my friends, Tony and Amy Hoffer from Hoffer Photography came over to my apartment to do a fun photoshoot for me! They had photographed me before, so it was easy to feel relaxed and comfortable. It was the most enjoyable afternoon with friends and their pup, Oliver!

Here are the rest of the photos featured on their blog!

A Fun Day at Clover Market

clover market

Today, I stopped by the Winter Market edition of the Clover Market. It was a special event held this weekend in the Armory in Center City. Here are some of the wonderful treasures that I spied!

image_13 image image_12 image_11 image_10 image_9image_7 image_6 image_4 image_3 image_2 image_1 image_5

And this one is for you, Dad 🙂image_8

Aaaaaaaaaaand, just in case you were wondering, no, I did NOT buy anything! Purely eye candy. Although, I did indulge in a hot chocolate spiked with Pumpkin Spice Vodka, in addition to some pulled pork and beef chili from the Oink & Moo BBQ Food Truck. Yum!

If you would like to stop by and check it out for yourself, they have several spring dates coming up near the Philadelphia area:

April 12-Chestnut Hill

April 26-Bryn Mawr

May 17-Bryn Mawr

June 7-Chestnut Hill

Happy Hunting!

All Grown Up

There are so many treasures to be found hiding amongst pink peace sign bedding and grungy skateboard shelving. Yeah, that’s right, I’m talking about shopping for grown up things at a kid’s store. I scoured my top 3 sites for little known gems. Here they are, with the links included!

I just love TJ Maxx. Like, really really love it. When I was doing some Christmas shopping for myself family, I stopped in to look around, and of course, it did not disappoint! Here are some of the treasures I found.

*Disclaimer-None if these things came home with me, but they sure were fun to look at!

Let’s start with the accessories first:image_25These cute Kate Spade look-a-like earrings were only $14.99!

image_23It’s difficult to see, but this bag had a herringbone felt look and I couldn’t help but admire the cute embellished details. Only $39.99.

image_22This navy and pink leather bag looked so polished, a la Elle Woods, Esq. It was less than $50 bucks.

image_21Ummm, can’t stand it, right?! SOOO cute! For $29.99?! Love it.

image_20Travelling soon? This gray ostrich Nicole Miller bag (on wheels!) is the perfect accessory…especially for less than $200. But I have my own fabulous black classy duffel that I received for Christmas! 🙂

image_17Remember my Manzanita post? Well, here it is again…for $20…in GOLD! I know, you didn’t think it could get any better.

image_16This lush fur blanket by Nicole Miller is perfect for winter snuggling. And at $40, you could afford to buy some logs for the fire too.  Again, Santa brought me my own snuggle pelt for Christmas. A little more of a splurge, but TOTALLY worth it!

image_15I love this gilded pineapple for $16.99. It makes me think of Charleston 🙂

image_18My beautiful friend bought me a Kate Spade journal brandishing this same carefree phrase reminiscent of the ever-so-fashionable, not-so-humble Marie Antoinette.

image_19On those days when you need to be reminded that you are beautiful 🙂

image_14This box set is more like a matryoshka doll. The boxes inside are equally as cute. It does have a juvenile look to it, but I’m so glad that even babies can have fabulous storage.

image_13 image_12These kitchen stools were a great industrial touch. I imagine them in an all-white kitchen. Then again, I imagine myself in an all-white kitchen. *dream*

image_11This AMAZING nailhead stunner was only…get ready…$69.99!! If I didn’t already have 2 sad chairs waiting to be loved up at home, I definitely would have bought this. Except that he didn’t have a friend…

image_10Speaking of friends, I want this shiny bar cart to be my friend. It was $199.99 and it loved me. It could have also been reincarnated as a nightstand or hot chocolate station, or side table, or basically anything. This couldn’t look bad anywhere.

image_24And last, but not least, this fun, bold, striped wrapping paper. It can be used to wrap any of the things you’ve just seen. My birthday is coming up…in June 😉

Have you found any great TJ Maxx finds?

Treasure Hunting

I promised to post about my treasure hunting on Monday, and time just slipped away, so here it is 🙂

I took off of work on Monday to do some Christmas shopping. I was so successful, I had some time left over to pop into some of my favorite shops around my town.

The first stop was Nadeau. This fun shop has lots of unique carved furniture pieces. Take a look!

image_2I want this in a farmhouse entryway. And, yes, when I see furniture, it tells me where it wants to go (mostly “take me home with you!”)

image_1I can picture this carved, sage entertainment center in a pretty beach cottage.

image_3I’m not loving the curved shape of this, but check out the ombre staining. Really interesting!

image_4Shoes, hats, scarves, mittens, mail, books, files-whatever it is, I want to label the heck out of this thing and put it in my office…if I had an office. This is why I need a bigger place, so I can put all of my furniture inside!

image_5Lingerie cabinet? Or swanky linen closet?

image_6This piece doesn’t even need words. I mean, look at it!!! It is actually open on the back, but it’s sitting up against a glass wall. It’s so pretty and industrial, I would want all of my white stoneware collection displayed on it. *sigh*

And this little carved wonder was a “steal” compared to this one from Anthropologie.

image_7The prices fluctuate between overpriced for some pieces and reasonably priced for others. But as you can see, they have some unique items, including this beautiful statement mirror that may or may not eventually come home with me…

imageIt has the most intricate bird carvings, which will match my bird lamps in my bedroom. And you can’t tell, but there is a beautiful gold sheen which gives it just the right amount of elegance.

Once I left there, I couldn’t help myself, I just had to stop at Material Culture, which is only the coolest place ever. At least, it makes me feel cool because I know about it. “Material Culture? Oh, yeah, I go there…”

image_10It’s a huge warehouse space with so much good stuff packed in, you can’t even see all of it! Lots of their items are antiques from China, India, and Africa. They have newer things too, like this fab trunk that was fully upholstered in cowhide. Even the drawers were lined in an army green felt. And they shut so smoothly, no wobbling. *swoon*

image_15

image_13This amazing carved doorway, probably from 19th century India, was only $5,000. That may sound sarcastic, since I’m always on a bargain hunt, but seriously, if I was renovating, that seems like a small price to pay for such a dramatic impact. Look at Genevieve Gorder’s apartment reno. As soon as I saw this, I thought of her amazing bedroom doorway 🙂

image_11Imagine brushing your teeth in this Italian-eque double sink every morning!

image_8 image_9This stately carved mirror was so pretty in person, I had to take a close-up. See all of the detail? No reflection could compare…

And now, the piece de résistance…

image_14Ummm, yeah, I just fainted, came to, then fainted again. I don’t have  a close-up of this, but it is completely inlayed with mother of pearl and is just absolutely magnificent. It must be 11′-0″ tall. I just want to stare at it all day…

I saw a lot of beautiful things, and then I saw this:

image_12Hmmm…

There is one more place that I must mention in this post. The Liao Collection in Center City, Philadelphia. I was there a few times last year and have to share the photos with you. It is similar to Material Culture, in that most everything is antiques. These are all Chinese and Japanese antiques and you know that every piece has a story.

I actually purchased this Japanese chest ($1500) and the tofu mold ($500) for work. The chest is definitely one of those items that I would consider buying from work. It is just so old, you know it wants to say something. Unfortunately for me, it only speaks Japanese…but I can appreciate it’s good looks!

Now you can say you’ve seen a tofu mold in a shower…Woo Hoo!!

Building with Integrity

Because of CK, I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with his company, Integrity Construction, to help share my ideas for their newest house flipping project. Here are some before photos so you can see what we are working with…

The kitchen is long and rectangular and feels like there are 3 separate “zones”. I wanted to create a more cohesive kitchen, so here is how I changed the plans:

Photoshop Fun: Paint My House!

Once your friends know you are a designer, they can’t help but ask your advice. I don’t mind, I love to help! My friend, CK, has a cute row home, but let’s be honest, it needs a little Huntress love 🙂 Here is the before:

Chris House Before

Yeah, sad, I know…Where are the lanterns? Where are the window boxes??

So here are my After options!

Let’s start with a soft blue for the main stucco paired with a deep navy for the trim:

Chris House After.BLUE

And the second option, a bright cream stucco with classic black accents:

Chris House After.CREAM

And the final option, which happens to be my favorite, a greige stucco, black and white trim, with a welcoming Pumpkin Spice door:

Chris House After.GREIGE

Of course, I know that this may be a little more unrealistic, but I think by adding some simple shutters (from Home Depot, of course), some window boxes (you can use fake flowers), switching out the light fixture for something a little less standard (bring on the character!), actually identifying your house with sleek, modern numbers (easier for the mailman), and staining the front steps (pink stone, what?!), you can have great curb appeal for a little bit of money.

Hope you like your house painting inspiration, CK!

Thrift Shop Finds

So, this past weekend, I went to a thrift shop near my house to look for some vintage decor for our wedding. Unfortunately, I didn’t find anything that would fit the bill, but I did find some great little gems that could have been turned into fabulous pieces with just a little elbow grease.

First up-Bamboo Lounge Chairs:

image_31 image_32

Here is a very similar pair for twice the price:

Bamboo Chairs 1

Or this delicious color splash inspiration:

Bamboo Chair Red

Then, there was this pretty flirtatious curved mirror:

It could easily be transformed into a vignette like this:

Curved Mirror 2

Or this!

Next, there were the simple Danish-looking chairs for $30 for the pair:

image_33 image_34

I’m thinking all out colorful:

Or a little color dip like this:

Or a softer wash:

We started with bamboo and I’ll finish with it too. The last thing that I found, which may have been my favorite, was this bamboo settee. I literally did the crazy thrift shop lady “OMG-is-that-what-i-think-it-is-YES” stop, and took this photo out of my car window…

image_36

You could paint the frame a softer cream and then reupholster the seat in a fabulous natural linen:

Or add a bright pop:

I know you think I bought something…but I behaved and had the wedding budget on my mind 🙂 Even as I typed up this post, HJ thought I may have something hiding in my work storage room in the basement. Fortunately, he didn’t seem that mad when he thought I did buy something. Unfortunately, if I had known that, maybe I would have picked up a few new pieces!

Christmas and Candles

image_7

Last weekend, my friends Suzy, Sarah, and Ashley and I went to the Christmas Tree Shops. Have you ever been? It was pretty glorious. It was like a grocery store with holiday decor!! (they even had food too, all the way in the back!)

image_8

Look at these little jack-o-lantern and ghost wreaths, for only $4.99!

image_10

And this miniature Christmas tree for $1.99!!

image_9

Even with all of the good stuff, I found myself only getting some felt hangers for my closet, and this fragrant Pumpkin and Caramel candle for….$2.99!! Wow 🙂

candleThanks for bringing me girls!
